Prepare Your Skin
You'll need to shower and exfoliate your skin - use a body scrub or luffa on your entire body.
Shave prior to spray tanning as this is another form of exfoliation.
Use A Sunless Tan Prep
The Norvell Collection at Island Rayz has a variety of exfoliants and prep treatments from which to choose.
What to Wear
Plan to wear dark, loose-fitting clothes as tight clothes/leggings or shoes may rub off some of the spray tan, especially around the knees, elbows, chest and waist. Don't forget your umbrella if it is raining!
Tips for Perfect Spray Tan
Don't create a barrier to the skin by applying anything. Avoid lotions, deodorants, creams or perfumes prior to your session. Don't wear any makeup and/or remove it prior to your spray tan.
No Time? Get a Glove
The Norvell Exmitt Glove is an easy application that can remove lotions, creams, makeup and can also exfoliate right before your session. Use this prior to any primer.
Prime and Protect
Don't forget to apply your favorite sunless primer. This will help your tan last longer and fade evenly. You may also use barrier cream in a light layer on your hands, toes, etc.
Let It Develop
Avoid showering and/or sweating for a minimum of 6 hours. If you wait longer than 12 hours, your sunless tan will last longer. Avoid chlorine in places like pools and hot tubs, as this can cause your spray tan to fade quickly and unevenly.
Shower Lightly
Your first shower should be a lukewarm rinse. Avoid long, hot showers. You may see excess bronzers wash off - don't worry, this is not washing off your spray tan. Avoid using pore strips, bandages, exfoliants, or any body washes that contain harsh soap or oils.
Moisturize Daily
Make sure that you use sulfate-free body washes. Once you get out of the shower, pat dry - no heavy towel use.
Moisturizing daily will help to ensure your color lasts as long as possible!
